So I want to share with all of you a really cool thing that God did last week.

I was getting a little discouraged with fund raising for this trip. I only had $1600 when I should have had more than $1800. I knew there were people who still wanted to give me money but just hadn’t yet. I was even doubting that this is really what God wants me to do.

Tuesday I was going to share about this trip to India at Oasis, the young adult ministry I am a part of at my church. This group is like a big family to me. I love them all dearly and have known many of them for a long time. There is a closeness in this group like no other I have been a part of.

The night before I was going to speak I was praying about what I should say and that God would move the hearts of some of these people to financially support me. As I was praying I felt like God told me to ask him for $1000 from Oasis the next night. Honestly I balked at this. I thought to myself “well maybe God means $1000 from Oasis between now and the time I leave.” There are about 50-60 people who attend Oasis each week and many of them are students or unemployed. Even if each of them gave me $10 it would add up but that would still not be enough. Though there was a huge part of me that doubted, I still audaciously prayed for that seemingly impossible $1000.

So Tuesday night came. I shared and then Jeff, the leader, showed a video about this ministry in Mumbai that helps women get off the streets and out of prostitution. One of the girls on the video talked about how God healed her from tuberculosis, when the doctors said that she would die. She proclaimed with such confidence that “God can do EVERYTHING!” Her faith convicted me and brought me to tears.

After the night was over. A few people came to talk to me. One gave me a $20 bill, another a check for $50. Then this guy who just a few months ago was unemployed came up to me. When he got his new job God told him to set aside his tithe, not give it to the church but save it for something else. He had no idea what he was saving it for until he heard me talk about how God called me to go to India. The entire sum he is going to give me is over $1200!

I was completely blown away and humbled. It made me realize that God will always do what he says he will and that he wants us to ask him for crazy things.

I hope this story encourages you to pray audaciously and have confidence in the promises God has made! GOD WILL PROVIDE!
