Namaste Dosti = “Hello Friends” in Hindi

I’m not going to write much right now but I wanted to go ahead and say “Namaste Dosti” and introduce myself. My name is Katie Rowland and I’ve been given the privilege of joining the Real Life India trip this fall as a leader alongside Amy Sutherland. I’m so excited to begin getting to know you guys through this blog and (hopefully) some phone calls before meeting in September in Georgia!
I’m from the small town of Boone, North Carolina and that’s been home base for the 25 years of my life. I’m a member of the World Race Alumni, of the July 2008 F-Squad “Tribe.” We finished the Race this past May 20. My Race blog is at  http://katierowland.theworldrace.org if you feel like reading some of what I experienced on that crazy God adventure. I also made a lot of movies. You can watch them on my Vimeo page at vimeo.com/katierowland.

Amy and I are so blessed to have this opportunity to work with you guys in India. I know God is going to do incredible things in and through each of you as you begin to let go of yourselves and allow Him to fill your heart with His heart in new ways!

My cell is 828-719-8873 and email is [email protected] if you guys want to say hello! I would love to hear from each of you. But also if you’d please leave your cell numbers as comments so I can call you guys too!

Here are two more phrases I just learned from a friend of mine who’s ridiculously good at languages:

“Yeshu apsay pyar kartay hang”  = Jesus Loves You.
“SHUkriya” = Thank you.

Looking forward to getting to know you guys! Until we meet – always remember John 17:4. “I have brought you glory on earth by completing the work you gave me to do,” which Jesus prayed shortly before being arrested in the garden. Whether it’s in India or right here at home in America, God has given us work to do for His Kingdom, and we glorify Him by doing it! …now that just puts a smile on my face.

It’s so surreal that we’ll be leaving so soon! Thanks for your wonderful post and the great reminder that ” Whether it’s in India or right here at home in America, God has given us work to do for His Kingdom, and we glorify Him by doing it!”
which is something I think this summer has shown me a lot about.

  5. I agree with Julia, I think a part of my mind won’t really believe this is happening until I get on the plane for Georgia! I’m a bit late in starting my blog contributions, but I’ll try and get in touch some more before we meet.

My cell is 250-488-5096, although I’m guessing there would be some pretty big long-distance charges to talk to me here in BC. A short conversation would be cool though!
