My full name is Sarah Catherine Noel Swartz. I have just
graduated this May from Winthrop University with a B. A. in English. Whenever I
tell anyone I study English they ask, “so are you going to be a teacher?” My
answer is, “No, well at least not the public high schools.”  I was home schooled from kindergarten to 12th
grade, and I would really love to home school my children whenever they come
along (not anytime soon). I am not quite sure what I am going to do for an
occupation, but God will show me in time.

I live in Rock Hill, SC right now with my best friend whose name is also Sarah. My family lives just ten minutes away in a suburb of Charlotte, NC. My family moved to this area 10 years ago from San Jose, CA. I have three younger brothers who were home schooled alongside
me. Both of my loving and godly parents are not perfect, but have done a good
job in pointing me toward Christ.

More about myself: I love writing. Well of course I wrote
papers for school these past four years, but I also write poetry and other
things more God inspired than argumentative research papers.  I love reading; it is what drew me to be an
English Major. I have not been able to read much for pleasure but I am looking
forward to being able to do that this summer. I love community. I have a
wonderful group of friends, especially my best friend who I have lived with for
18 months. I am so excited to build a community with the group that I will be
going to India with. I love nature. Getting outside amongst green things is
soothing to my soul. It is where God most speaks to me. Trees and birds are
very metaphorical to me. They act as icons pointing me to God.

God has taught me about many beautiful things; things such
as dependence on him, vulnerability and friendship. Most recently he has  been
teaching me about trusting him. One of my very favorite chapters in the bible is John 15. John 15:5 says, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man [or woman] remains in me and I in him he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing” (NIV).
